24.1kms covered today. The morning started with a brisk wind at our backs and hard packed snow under our skis. Perfect conditions. As the day progressed we became shrouded in cloud and lost both visibility and contrast. The snow softened and deepened and what had started as a perfect day ended with a difficult few hours hauling heavy sleds in deep snow. We are happy with our distance though and the main thing is we’re coping physically with these long days and not getting tired or injured.

We are hoping to leave Berkner Island in two days time and start the next phase of the expedition across the Ronne ice shelf.
